Are you looking for a flexible solution to straighten the crooked teeth for your child? This post is for you.

Apart from hereditary problems, incorrect jaw development is also a root cause of teeth misalignment. Mostly, it occurs with poor infanthood oral habits like using prolonged pacifier usage, thumb sucking, mouth breathing, etc. You might think that these habits are not uncommon but they are linked to various jaw development problems.

Besides dental braces, dental doctors suggest a pre-orthodontic treatment called Myobrace System that aims at straightening the crooked teeth and addressing the underlying causes.

What is Myobrace?

Myobrace is a tailored orthodontic appliance made up of flexible silicone so that it sits well with the arch without causing any discomfort. The kids have to wear this brace for 1 to 2 hours and while sleeping a day. It helps in correcting the cranio-cervical-mandibular muscles development thereby preventing the incorrect jaw development to properly align the teeth.

While the regular orthodontic treatments push the permanent teeth to their respective room with braces, the myobraces take care of correcting the root cause of misaligned teeth and jaws without wires and brackets.

How does the myobrace system work?

As mentioned earlier, the myobrace system focuses on correcting the underlying causes of improper jaw development, facial development in kids. As the teeth and jaw bone tend to grow between 2 and 15 years of age, getting the myobrace treatment at childhood has ensured success rates.

It involves 4 steps to rectify the poor habits to ensure the teeth erupt in a properly aligned manner:

1) Habit Correction Therapy – This is the first stage of myobrace system and it is suitable for kids aged between 2 and 5 years. It involves teaching the children how to breathe through their nose, chew and swallow foods properly, how to position the tongue correctly.

It provides through the teething period and ensures the erupting teeth have reserved sufficient room to come out straightly.

2) Myobrace for Juniors – It is a removable intra-oral appliance that tends to correct poor oral habits and is utilized in conjunction with habit correction therapy. The kids have to wear this appliance for at least 2 hours a day and while sleeping.

3) Myobrace for kids – Apt for kids aged between 5 to 10 years. It tends to address the problems in oral muscles. For instance, it aims at correcting the position and movements of the tongue.

4) Myobrace for Teens – Recommended for individuals between 10 and 15 years. As permanent teeth begin to erupt in this stage, the kid has to wear the brace for aligning the erupting adult teeth into their actual positions.

Can adults get myobrace system treatments?

Yes. The myobrace for teens is also applicable for adults. Mostly, the myobrace systems are optimized with appropriate design principles and Farrell bent wire system to treat adult teeth. They are efficient to correct teeth crowding, malocclusions, etc.

Bottom line

Orthodontic braces are inevitable to straighten the crooked, crowded, and misaligned teeth. When the appliance is removed after the treatment completes, the chances are higher for the teeth to move back to their previous position and crowded again.

Hence it is essential to address the root cause of malocclusion in childhood. Myobraces help you to do this.

When you notice atypical signs like mouth breathing, tongue tie, tongue thrusting along with crooked teeth in your child, it will be time to get myobrace treatments.
